How can we help?
Answers to the most common questions. If you’re still stuck, email us.
Getting started
Which phones are supported?
iPhones on iOS 16 or later and Android phones on Android 10 or later. The app also runs on iPad.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to download a larger model, or to buy or restore Pro. Recording, transcribing, searching, editing and exporting all work offline. The Tiny model comes installed.
Why does the app ask for the microphone?
It needs the microphone to record and transcribe you live. Audio stays on your phone. If you declined, you can turn access back on in your phone’s Settings, and you can still import files without it.
Models and accuracy
A model says "Not recommended". What does that mean?
The model looks too large for your phone’s memory, and the app says why. Use a smaller model for reliable results.
My model download failed.
Check your connection and free storage space, then try again. The sizes are 142 MB for Base, 466 MB for Small and 1.5 GB for Medium.
How can I get better accuracy?
Record close to the speaker with as little background noise as you can, choose the language yourself if detection gets it wrong, and try a larger model. Larger models are more accurate, and results vary by language and voice.
Pro and purchases
How do I restore Pro on a new phone?
Open the upgrade sheet in the app and choose restore while you’re connected and signed in to the same Apple or Google account you bought it with.
How do I get a refund?
Apple and Google handle payments and refunds, so ask through the store you bought from. We can’t see or change your payment.
Your data
Can you recover my transcripts?
No. We never have a copy, so there is nothing we can restore. Export anything you want to keep somewhere else.
Why can’t I open my library after restoring a backup?
The encryption keys stay on the original device, so a restored library can’t be decrypted. The app explains this and offers to start again. Exported files aren’t affected.
How do I delete my data?
Delete a transcript in the app, or uninstall the app to remove its library. We hold nothing, so you don’t need to send us a request.
